Teacher at the Metropolitan School of Panama
"I’m currently teaching 7th Grade Humanities, providing additional learning support for students in grades 7-10 at the Metropolitan School of Panama, an international school in Panama City, Panama."
WHAT SHE DOES FOR LOVE: "I love being outdoors exploring the variety of environments that Panama offers: snorkeling Caribbean beaches, hiking in tropical rainforests and relaxing in the sleepy mountain towns. When I’m able to, I love traveling abroad to explore new cultures, [but] my favorite place to be is still my home of Cape Cod in the summertime where I’m able to eat the best seafood, read on the beach and spend time with my large group of family and friends. When not traveling I love reading, cooking and gardening."
HER 2015 GOAL: "My goal this year is to continue to improve my Spanish. I have taught myself and I can get around and have a basic conversation, but I want to work my way to becoming fully bilingual to help me grow personally and professionally. Currently, I’m reading children’s books in Spanish to help and recently learned Dr. Seuss is not an easy read in your second language."
LADIES SHE ADMIRES: "The women that I admire in my life are my sister and mother. My sister has an incredible drive that has placed her in a job that is beyond admirable, yet she still remains completely humble. My mother keeps me remembering that life is short and how a smile, positive attitude and a good deed can make a large impact."
"I’m originally from Cape Cod, Massachusetts. After two years of winters living in snowy Boston, I made a break for it and for the last five and a half years I’ve been living in Panama; first on the Caribbean island of Bocas Del Toro and for the last three and half years in Panama City, Panama."
HER STYLE: "In terms of style, I’m a person who is always looking for a good bargain and rarely gets rid of clothing. My sister and mother begged me to get rid of a tattered jean skirt that I bought when I was in high school. I couldn’t part with it until recently, even as it fell apart at the seams. My style is largely based on the weather. I will never complain about not having to wear sweaters, jackets and closed toed shoes. I love looking in my closet and having to debate between what sundress and sandals to wear."
